About Mac ... from Mac

Since I quit Spectramind in June 2005, I have been a full time professional free lance photographer and I do nature and wild life photography. My "Let There Be Light" book was launched on the opening day of my first solo exhibition in Delhi in Jan 2008, and was quite well received. Since then it has been available in all leading book stores though the online stuff happened just now. Both the exhibition and the book got a fair amount of press coverage (the Hindu was one of the last articles. In fact I was featured on the cover of the Better Photography magazine in their April issue and the May issue also have a couple of my pictures.) Following that success, I am currently working on a few more exhibitions – July end /Aug in Singapore, September in Mumbai, November in London and Goa in end December/early Jan. Sometime post that I want to get the exhibition to Bangalore and Chennai as well.

I am also working out my schedules with WWF to shoot their high altitude wetland projects in Himachal, Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. I am also working on trying to shoot some social initiatives in J&K and Arunachal which may result in another book. There are also a couple of other book projects I am working on, but with all the exhibitions the time frames have gone a bit haywire!

Mahesh believes that our planet will soon fall short of subjects unless we actively care for the environment. He is actively involved with the cause for environmental conservation and wildlife protection. Mahesh works hand-in-hand with NGOs and conservation organisations to create awareness about the People-Nature conflict and the need for balanced development. His work has been showcased by the WWF - both to conserve endangered species and to enhance environmental awareness. His dream is that for future generations, such awareness will not be taught but will be a way of life.
